Anyone? Anyone?

Most apartment buildings in Recife have some kind of sculpture or statue on the front lawn or walkway, usually having something to do with naked women and/or the sea; naked women, naked women with sea blown hair; naked women from the sea; naked women looking at the sea, naked women ... well ... you get the idea. While my building has some strange stylised sundial [us Canadians being rather proper folks], what I am really trying to figure out, is this sculpture on a neighbouring building...

It looks like the obelisk from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey dropped on the poor fellow.

Looks like the roof of this poor bastard's apartment collapsed on him. It's a warning. Stay the hell out.

Or maybe this is what they do to naked male statues. Can't blame them.

It's funny you mention that Tripper - as just before I moved here a twelve-story building nearby did fall down! Gone, crumbled to the ground, dust to dust, ashes to ashes and all that! Maybe it is a warning to the rest of us.

Thanks for commenting and welcome to caipirissima!

The poor guy. Mind is boggling here... Just stumbled on your blog. I'm heading to Recife for a month soon to meet my partner's folks (a terrifying prospect given my amateur Portuguese), so reading your posts is interesting. I'll keep an eye out for the squashed bronze man.
